What is freelancing?
Freelancing is basically contract work, and generally the work is completed off the customers premises. The customer and freelancer may never meet with work being passed via mail or the internet.
One of the advantages of freelancing is that you are managing your own time. This makes is easier to fit in with an existing job. By building up a set of clients who use your skills regularly you can develop a great business from your own home.
One the best sources of freelance work is the internet. There are several Freelance websites that bring together businesses who are looking for someone with a set of skills to deliver a piece of work, and the freelancers who can do the work.

What kind of work do freelancers get?
Computer Programming, Writing Articles, Research Projects and Graphic Design are probably the most popular sectors, although there are many others.
It's also important to note that geographical restrictions should not impede your ability to obtain contracts. If the work can be posted or emailed, then you could work for a client anywhere in the world.
