Richard Branson is a role model for many, and there is no doubting the success he has achieved. What many people do not realise is that he is not really a rags-to-riches story . Richard was a public schoolboy, who started his business empire by selling Christmas trees from his family estate, and I'm not talking Volvo 240 GL!! His father was a barrister, much like Bill Gates, and he has had a charmed childhood compared to the average person.
There is no doubt that Richard has built an empire by spotting oppotunities and making the most of what he had at his disposal. This is undoubtedly what made him a success and I'm sure that even if he was a market trader like Alan Sugar of Amstrad fame and seen recently on the reality TV show 'The Apprentice' he would have been succesful in one way or another. |
