Product Description An autobiography of iconic entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson that features his take on his business ventures, personal achievements and intrepid adventures. It presents insights into this very public figure's personal life as well as his business successes and the lessons he's learned along the way.
Amazon.co.uk Review Love him or loathe him, you've got to admit that Richard Branson has drive. And guts. And enough ambition to sink a battleship--or perhaps that should be a jumbo jet--or even a whole company of jumbos if the Virgin Atlantic/British Airways debacle (which takes up a huge chunk of this already sizable tome) is anything to go by. Branson's autobiography makes immensely fascinating reading. Whatever you think of Britain's most famous entrepreneur the odds are that you will enjoy reading his autobiography. You may snort at descriptions of his "poor" childhood--spent eating bread and dripping while living in the kind of house house the majority of us visit on Bank Holidays and attending a "minor" public school. You may groan at memories of early initiative tests: how about being thrown out of the family car and told by his mother to find his way home--at the age of four? You may flinch at accounts of his early business days as an unwashed, unshod hippy magazine publisher living en famille with his staff in the crypt of a West London church. But all in all you'll get to understand where the guy's coming from--man. And like the man himself, there's no holds barred here. Richard bares his soul, from childhood, school days (cheating at exams), loves and losses (lost one wife when a spot of wife-swapping went drastically wrong--for him) and death-defying adventures (yes, the balloons are all there) to the rise and rise of the Virgin empire. His interviews for Student magazine and the early days of Virgin Music read like a chronicle of popular music and culture in the late 20th century. Famous names bounce off every page. Prepare to be enthralled by the life and times of a walking publicity machine. --Carey Green, Amazon.com --This text refers to the hardcover edition of this title

Love to do business August 22, 2010 Rosey Thomas Palmer Losing my Virginity is another encouraging book by Richard Branson. I found myself forgiving the rather jaded pun in the title because the constant repetition of Richard Branson's story is a welcome reminder of his infectious enthusiasm for business pursuits and his resilient ethos in the face of non-starters, downturns, and vicious competition.
As a reader I enjoyed his humour and indulged my own nostalgia for hippy days. I admired the breadth of his research and the rational of his commitment to the notions of the elders and the living planet.
As a business person I was healed by his attitudes, enthused by his examples and challenged by his standards. I haven't yet succeeded with my current projects, but I'm much further along the way and I treasure the images he offers of the students from his business school in Africa because they help me believe in me.
This is a book to read and to give. Branson's three books: Business stripped bare, Screw it let's do it, and his autobiography were, together, the best help I've known in my business life so
far. They are also books I want to give. They can change lives
Long winded August 19, 2010 Donna B (Shropshire) Not much new that hasn't already been in the media. About 3/4 of the way through I was struglling to stay interested. Have loads of respect for Richard Branson, but probally more than I needed to know about him. Never did finish the last few chapters.
sean h likes July 22, 2010 sean h book was good especially on the earlier years, however did tend to fudge over some events as we moved thro' 90's
Never judge a book by it's cover or title. July 20, 2010 Bookgirl A most enjoyable book Richard Branson gives us an insight into his life so far, from working on a student magazine right through to the global virgin group it shows what you could achieve with hard work and determination, the drive and enthusiasm he has what an inspiration to others
It would make you think twice about flying with BA !
This book was well worth the buy....
