    Editorial Reviews:

    Product Description
It is well known that in their professional lives most academics and researchers will - like cats - seek to exercise as much independence as possible. This book deals with common leadership and management themes, like making tough strategic choices, leading change effectively, dealing with bureaucracy, allocating resources, and managing budgets.

    Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars A well-observed guide book for leaders in academic and research institutions   August 2, 2010

This book is a collation of advice and anecdotes from people with long leadership careers in academic and research institutions. The stories are often amusingly familiar and appropriately telling. And, beyond that, they have the important function of highlighting all the vital aspects the role encompasses - i.e. all the things a leader or aspiring leader in an academic or research institution should consider. Both light-hearted and informative - I'd recommend it as a guide for a new leader or a gift for an existing one.
